No moralist musings about why not to do it, just actual experiences please. Curious on how much can this prevent you to get offers (my intuition is that it shouldn't matter much if you keep your skills sharp, contrary to popular belief)
You mean to say voluntarily or due to Covid?
Motivations aside. One year off
I've done it, took a year off, just told them it was for personal reasons. Started interviewing after I got bored, had an offer from a FAANG within a month. Anytime it came up I just said it was to take a break. Some interviewers thought I was still working at my old job... I just stopped correcting them (my resume clearly showed the gap) Just depends on your skills/ability to demonstrate. I hadn't touched C++ for a year, but I still remembered enough to write code/pass all the tech screens. (without any prep either, fuck leetcode).

So Trump is right, again, on illegal aliens being rapists?
i did this multiple (2) times. once for 3 years and once for 1 year. coming back was no problem whatsoever in either case. of course i’m fucking good. if you suck or are just mediocre, good luck
I love how being anonymous makes one so confident.
Could you get offers from big companies? Also, what did you say to justify it when asked?
