winery name: Sterling Vineyards -tasting experience: 5/10, we went on the self guided tour called ‘Sterling Stroll’ which is really geared towards the tourist groups, to impress ur out of town guests with the gondola ride & pretty facility (think whitewashed mykonos style buildings) with great views of the valley. the real focal point is just that. the wine itself was unremarkable, its just there… to enhance the tour. As a popular tourist destination, it gets crowded fairly quick so dont expect any quiet, leisurely experience. fwiw this is another winery owned by the treasury wine estates, which also owns BV, Beringer, Chateau St Jean, Stags’ Leap Winery. -tasting $: $55 for ‘Sterling Stroll’ but it mostly pays for the gondola ride. theres also a general admission, non drinking fee of $25 to take the 🚠. $85 for the same experience plus seated pouring paired with cheese. $95 for their signature 5 wines with cheese pairings or $125 for their premier selection. tbh their $55 tasting is probably the only experience worth trying, once. -reservations: Yes, via tock, while reservations are recommended, u can likely just go w/o one. -membership: 1/10, 5 shipments of (likely) 2 bottled, minimum spend of $1k or 5 shipments of 3-4 bottles, $2k spend. includes 20% discount. their wines are not outstanding enough to commit to $1-2k per year. only worth it if u regularly host out of town guests -revisit: No, only worth bringing out of town guests, large corporate events or bachelor parties
