Hi there! I’m just finishing up my Master’s in HCI in Boston, MA, USA. I have 3 years of experience as a UX Designer in India at SAP Labs. Will my experience be counted when I’m applying for jobs here in the US? Or should I apply for new grad roles? #design #interviews #ui/ux #uxdesigner #yoe #indian #immigrant #jobapplications #jobsearch
Experience is experience no matter where you got it. You’ll be fine applying to any role.
Great! Thanks for your comment.
Yes, it counts. You’re ahead of new grads in both design skills and general professional maturity.
Awesome! Thanks.
Being there and had to start from scratch because 1. HM see if you have relevant experience (mine was in graphic design which didn’t count) 2. Visa sponsorship is difficult to find 3. The competition is insane for junior roles but once you get foot in the door you’ll quickly get promoted. Start wherever you can, just get in a good product which will make good portfolio pieces

Bro. It's the skill set that matters. If u feel confident on jd and crack assessments then u can attempt higher roles..
Thanks for your comment. I’m absolutely confident about doing justice for higher roles and meeting expectations. But I am curious how recruiters/hiring managers think?
