I’m posting this on behalf of a friend because Blind doesn’t verify their email. “Hi there, I’m a Principal Engineer with 13 YoE and 3 years in this role working for a relatively large company and have been interviewing with some of FAANG. Amazon L6, Meta (E6), Apple (not clear yet). It has been quite easy for me to get an interview from FAANG and also make it to their final rounds. Apart from Meta it seems like that with others I would end up with one level lower i.e Senior instead of Staff/Principal and for any non-FAANG like Shopify, Spotify etc I easily get Staff/Principal positions interviews. I would like to know from career point of view is it a wrong decision to accept offers L6 (Amazon), ICT4 Apple over E6 in Meta? Or If I go for senior positions in Apple or Amazon how does it affect my chances of getting offers for Staff/ Principal from non-FAANG in future. I know a lot of this depends on TC but each position eventually has a certain upper bound and in these companies as far as I have seen getting promoted from Senior to PE/Staff is relatively hard. What do you think, especially people who are working at Amazon, Apple, Meta?” TC: 330K #amazon #apple #meta

Meta E4 vs Stay at Google at L4
Not all bands are the same. You might not demonstrate what it fully means to be at Principal level in these companies. If you try to in that level and they don't offer it, and down level you, ask them why? If you enter at that level and then don't perform compared to others who are at that level (eg, ones who were senior and then were promoted from x years of work history and evidence to Staff or Principal) then you'll be in for trouble and stress, PIP etc
