Hey everyone. I’m wondering if anybody has suggestions on how I can position myself for entry level PM roles? Is there any opportunities you would be willing to chat about with me? SWE 2 years out of school. Scrum Master (15 person multi-site team) for 1.5 years for a DoD contracted multi-functional/multi-company program. I have technical experience ranging from software engineering to systems to product design. Extensive undergrad SW experience. Entrepreneurial projects (tech and marketing) in college and out of college. Tried internal moves but due to the nature of the work here, there is no opportunities for young engineers to get into a product management role. Management doesn’t seem to want to help me develop internally or help find my place. I’m definitely interested in FAANG and other big tech but wanting to cast a wider net. There are cool opportunities everywhere! If there is any suggestions or referral help, I’d love to have a conversation! I’d appreciate a resume review if anyone is willing to help there as well. #productmanager #pm #product #microsoft #slack #paypal #facebook #twitter #dropbox #amazon #atlassian #brex #google #instacart #square #twilio #faang #datadog #snowflake #rubrik #bloomberg #stripe #snap #lyft #uber #spotify #apple #robinhood #yelp #vmware #github #netflix
Try to learn as much as you can about PM. It's not as easy as some people may have you believe. Workload can exponentially increase if you are a good PM. I was working 25-30 hours a week initially. Got a lot of work done and now all of a sudden regularly crossing 40 every week. Fix your resume. Emphasize the impact that your work/code has had on the business instead of just listing your responsibilities. This will help you pass resume screening. Use websites such as exponent to learn more about the interview process and practice interview problems on a regular basis. Take an app on your phone or household object and analyze it. Think of the ways you can improve it for different types of customers
Thank you for the insight. Can I make some edits to my resume and send it to you for a quick review?
Not that guy, but I can give you a referral. My team is hiring!
