Is it better to UHaul or start all over for long distance moves?

I’m planning on moving to Seattle, NY, or the Bay Area for my next position that I will begin applying for soon. I live very far away from all of these cities, and I want to know what I should do. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks TC: $70K YOE: 1.5

So I thought about starting all over again. Then I checked the new prices of furnitures and decided not to sell my items so cheaply. Everything has gone up by 25% between 2020 and now. So I am taking my items with me to Seattle

Cross that bridge when you get there.

Should I cross the bridge in a uhaul or a Volvo?

Definitely depends on a lot of different things. Like how much stuff you have, how big the new place will be, costs of either option, attachment to things, a spouse, etc.

I’d get a quote and then weigh your options knowing the actual prices. You could limit yourself to a smaller container pod and take your most expensive valuables. Use this as an opportunity to sell the things you don’t need

If (Cost of buying stuff - proceeds of selling stuff + hassle of dealing with people while selling stuff > packing +storage +moving + unpacking )then haul In 2015 I started from scratch in Seattle , moved from Midwest. I had a studio and very few items. It costed more to move than buying again so gifted items to a friend . Today things are expensive and some are just unavailable so consider that too

New position likely will pay relo costs, right? If so, full service that shit

If you are getting good relocation. Might just start over..

Really? I paid about $2k for a 1000 mile move last time. How much did you pay?

Yeah, I had to do the auto transport to tow my car too. There’s also a 55 mph speed limit if you tow one, so it wasn’t too much fun for a 22 hour trip.

Start over, you rarely get chances for it and if you can afford it, I say do it

best is to reset and get new furniture etc. of course you’ll have a small set of valuables / irreplaceable items. This is talking about usual junk like couch, bed, side table, lights etc etc
