Listing apartment on Airbnb

I live in SF. My lease hasn’t ended but we bought a place and are moving in soon. Breaking the lease will cost $4k. If I put my place up on Airbnb to cover the cost of remainder lease, what can happen to me if my leasing company finds out? I rent from an apartment complex so I don’t feel bad about subletting. Has anyone done this before?

You can sublet it. Many apartments allow subletting as long as it is you who brings in the new person.

Youll be fine just make sure the guests behave. I know people who have like 60 apts they airbnb out.

i use to do this. it was fine. but now i believe you want even be able to start listing it due to SF restrictions that Airbnb is adhering too. would need express permission from owner.

Make sure you read your rental contract. You will find all the answers to your questions.

Read your lease and see what it says about subletting. Usually you can’t do it unless you have express written permission from the landlord.
