What can we do as to fix our political system?
The fact that we have an incompetent leader at the very top is more thanks concerning. It gives us little to no hope that things will get better. On the contrary he makes things worse.

You are naive. The U.S. government is a democratic republic. The president is not the leader, but merely a figurehead.
They don’t teach civics in high school any more. So we get stuck with a batch of whiny rêtârds who don’t understand this.

I have a simple fix. Let’s go back to how the President and Vice President were chosen prior to the civil war: the winner is president and the second place candidate is VP. Then both sides are represented.
The people are represented thru Congress.

Not only is the US political system broken, it's equilibrium state is this sort of gridlocked broken state. I don't believe it is possible to fundamentally change the system to a more effective one due to the fundamental design focus on balance of power.
