Consider joining upstart. You will work on shittiest tech debt problems . You will work with amazing managers who don’t micromanage at all. You will have an interview specific to values and when you join the company you will find everyone does the absolute opposite of those values. And icing on the cake is the chart below. They wont fire you but will pip you to avoid negative publicity. 💩 Company.
Ew no.
whats your TC beginning and end of the year , op?
Why work there when you could wait one year and buy the company once it drops another 90%
😂😂😂
Back in august I had a recruiter round for a director role. I asked the recruiter to block me from any future jobs rest of my life toward the middle of the conversation. I confirm that perhaps the sh!ttiest company out there is Upstart. I would like to file a petition to kindly change the company from Upstart -> Sh!tstart as this name is a better representation of the company’s true values !
Lesson learnt. Dont join a company just cause the ceo comes from google and everyone is raving about it.
“But what do they do? What does upstart do?”
I believe it was all fine when the rates were low to borrow. Culture probably went downhill as things started to sour. Can tell you that I interviewed for one of the ML leadership roles and one of the Sr ML scientists was very condescending as if they were also interviewing for the same role. Expressed that to the recruiter and didn’t proceed with the interview.
Name of the company marches the graph.
Had a colleague working there. They hated their micromanaging, credit hoarding young manager. They quit before the shit show started to ramp up.
Do you feel better after venting?
Hmm more like I feel worse for myself
