How to leave a job without notice period.#tech #resignation #lastday#it
âDear Human Resources, effective immediately I will be resigning my position as x at y.â Thereâs no law saying you need to give notice, though will likely blacklist you from that org and getting any reference from them. Depending on the situation that might not be an issue at all. If they were to fire you; they donât give you two weeks notice generally. That being said; if your remote; why not just âworkâ your last two weeks ;) ;).
You dont even have to give a reason
Thatâs true! I agree . But it is consulting firm and I need reliving documents from them, they shouldnât be able to stop it I guess.
Of course. You owe them nothing. Nobody is required to work for anyone. You donât even have to come back from lunch (This is speaking of ppl who work in US)
đ this funny! No need to come back after lunch. Actually should try this .đ
Let me get you sadder then: the company can also revoke your badge while you're out for lunch.
In America, you can walk out the door anytime you want without saying anything for any or no reason at all. Anything preventing that is not legally enforceable
OP, what is the reason for not wanting to stay back for two weeks? If youâre in H1B, itâs better to not burn bridges. You can negotiate with your manager or if you are going to competition they will ask you to leave immediately.
Reason: New company has filed my H1B transfer as soon as I will get approval. I have to leave country and get stamping with my previous employer. Once I come back I will be on new employer and then again I have to get stamping. I am thinking if I resign before going for stamping in that case I get stamping for new employer! Else no issues
As there wonât be much time to serve two weeks notice period.
Notice is a formality, no one can force anyone to work anywhere. That said if you ever want them to say anything nice about you it'd probably be better to ride out the 2 weeks
Yes ! Thatâs also true, trying to think through what to say in that case donât serve notice period and be in good books.đ
just stop showing up! too easy
Sure you can, but you are likely burning bridges with both the employer and your colleagues. I'd hate it if my teammate just suddenly stopped showing up and I need to pick up his shit
Yeah when you drop everything and leave.. youâre hurting your colleagues more than the company.
đ˘ poor sprint velocity and the impact on the OKR hit. If the org didnât retain an employee for (check one or more: growth, salary, interesting work, quality managers) then itâs on the org for hurting the team.
Yeah ! True that. But definitely negotiating sounds good option then. Rather than serving 2 weeks.
yes, just like you can go to restaurant without tipping... no law against being an A*HOLE
Sure do anything you want. Free country
It is a consulting firm and they mentioned in offer letter for 2 weeks. Can they hold back my relieving documents.
Ask the HR what is the notice period. If you're in the US, it's at-will employment. They can fire you without giving you notice. If you're on deputation from another country, they will dock your pay for the notice period in currency equivalent amount from your host country.
