25F. Got laid off in March. I have 10 days left to stay in the US.
Half Of All American Workers Made Less Than $34,248.45 Last Year Once upon a time in America, a single income could easily support a middle class household in most cases, but those days are long gone. By definition, 50 percent of wage earners had net compensation less than or equal to the median wage, which is estimated to be $34,248.45 for 2019. (According to The Social Security Administration) Growing inequality may cause issues in the near future, but I didn’t know it was getting this bad. https://www.zerohedge.com/personal-finance/goodbye-middle-class-half-all-american-workers-made-less-3424845-last-year
First of all, it is not as bad as it sounds. For a family of 2 making 70k a year in a low COL city is not bad at all. The problem is that we no longer advocate for any family values so there are many single member households and that is why “kids” tend to stay with their parents until they are 40.
Meanwhile on Blind, people whining about how they got screwed by passing on their lowball Snowflake offer
I don't whine 😐
The middle class dream or the American dream was once in a lifetime opportunity after the world wars. US economy was largely untouched and the wars were a net benefit. It's now going towards the global middle class definition and it's not surprising that a middle class life is not luxurious anymore.
Oh trust me. American middle class life (heat and cool, washer dryer, dishwasher, car, food on table with reasonable savings is a luxury when you compare to most of the countries. It’s far away from global middle class definition).
Inb4 a random Blinder makes a post about how they are slaving away for $300k TC, $1M net worth and their life is so difficult. Blinders are (in general, not everyone though) the worst kind of people you can find on the internet.
dont forgot only h1b is slavery
Pretty sure reddit is at the top of the list along with the Twitter echo chamber.
Ironically posting this on Blind when most of the users make 6 figures. Good demographic for this post
I agree, un-ironically.
What nonsensical post is this? Literally all my friends are making 200k+ and they are not even Americans.
They are taking our jobs!
They terk errr jobbbsssss
👋👋👋👋
Including trump based on taxes documents. He is so bad off.
This is why h1b needs to be questioned.
You assume that we take jobs for less money. The issue is that there is not enough talent in the US. Take a look at how many people (and from which countries) complete stem degrees. Why would any company from FAANG pay for lawyers to get us work visa or GC? This is an additional cost and does make us more expensive.
H1b holders can only uncrease median income. The minimum base salary for h1b application was $60,000, recently boosted to around $100,000 by trump.
