Hey Folks, I am tired of people even from my SF based startup that are telling me that I live in a jungle and what can possibly be good at the place I live in. People tell me: you have to work so late at night till 3am, bunch of other bullshit, people here are so different, it’s not your culture, etc. My mom thinks that US is some god country better than 3rd world where i currently live in because she is racist and old, I wonder what she will day when I will bring her to SF where are the junkies at close to my office. Anyways, poll here: 1. US for rat race and career advancement 2. Chill in Thailand, get laid with ton of hot asian chicks whenever i Want, pay 5% tax on 110k TC, travel, open up a business here and keep working
Banging chicks everyday in Thailand will give you STDs and HIV and depression, move to USA for sanity and better health, it is sick living in sleezy places like Thailand where woman and gay are treated as sex objects, it is unhealthy to raise a family there too
Yes yes, USA is a bastion of morality and decency 🤣
Sorry, this was just a reference for Incels here on blind, I had fun time and have been dating rich local woman for a while now
Move to US for high TC. Vacation to Thailand to bang chicks. Retire to Thailand to bang chicks.
But I am able to save more money here, and invest and multiply it
but 110k is not even chump changes in US Tech, even fresh grad earn twice that much, you would not be able to compete with US tech bro retiring in Thailand to bang chicks
The remote thing is the ultimate freedom. Enjoy that.
You are right bloomberg. I just wish I could get rid of peoples opinions that are always against it, especially my family
I had to move far away from my family to get them off my back, so I can relate. But make sure it’s your decision, for you. My 2 cents is that you know what’s right for you, you’re the best positioned. Do what’s right, define what your core values are and invest in your future. Build strong foundations for a life that you know will get the best out of yourself. Don’t get lost into fulfilling other people’s wishes, but also don’t fall for just thinking short term and only enjoying the moment. Deep down I’m sure you can feel what’s both right and reasonable, all while being exciting and fulfilling!
Depends on your motivation. Some people live to work some work to live. You sound like the second kind, arguments can be made for either.
I am definitely a second kind, just wondering if it’s worth giving US a shot for 6-12 months and going back, just for the sake of networking honestly
May not always be chicks in Thailand, be careful
Nah, I live far from Pataya. Generally nice thai or Chinese looking women, if not western tourists
Are you Thai? Age and net worth?
Not thai, white dude from Eastern Europe, 26, 300k NW
Are you learning a lot? If not I’d consider US for growth and maybe comeback. You’re pretty young g still.
If you really want to make the big money you have to move to the US. A lot of the best paying jobs have gone full RTO or at least hybrid. I'm Canadian and also got a job with a SF-based startup and even worked remotely from Japan for half a year. It was fun, but working during the night fucking sucked and I could tell I was never really gonna rise the ranks at that company as long as i was fully remote and was never gonna be able to full enjoy life travelling while having to conform to NA work hours. I mean if you have connections and can comfortably just freelance then it's cool, but if you wanna hit 200k+ you're gonna have a hard time.
What is the US equivalent of 120k in Thailand? COL adj and all that.
I think it’s roughly double. Certain industries, like tech, have a tax exemption for foreigners in Thailand so they pay a flat 15%. In the US, $240k will be taxed 35 - 40% (depending on location). That said, cost of living in Thailand is extremely low (rent, food, entertainment approx $2 – $2500 / month conservatively) which affords a quality of life that’s quite comfortable and safe.
How are you making 110k in Thailand? How’d you find your job?
My company based in the US got acquired by a startup in SF, so they gave me US salary and equity
Even if i wouldn’t have this opportunity I think I could just get a contractor job somewhere in Australia, Singapore or US. That would pay me well, just like some dumb startup of some semi decent company. My TC not long ago was 180, because i had other job at the same time and just did some bullshit pm work
