I am a newbie to US and investing here. Kindly provide some recommendations. What is a good option ?( I have a fidelity 401k account) Fidelity/Schwab/Merrill? Or something else Added: from the suggestions below, I realize vanguard is the obvious choice to go for for vanguard index funds. Thanks for all the help One additional question, if my tax filing status is married , filing jointly.. should I be using joint account for vanguard investment also, to get the correct tax deductions? ( Could be a very basic question, I am new and have no clue )
You would pay a fee to invest in Vanguard outside of Vanguard...so...
Vtsax is vanguard Total stock index. So use vanguard
FSKAX by Fidelity is pretty much the same if you rather stick with Fidelity
Vanguard; they are Vanguard funds

Vanguard
