So sick of AI being added to every website, web browser, search engine, IDE, operating system, sometimes you can't remove it completely you have to just turn off the feature, if the AI overlords are gracious enough to give you that option. I don't want my data being sent to participate in training some shitty LLM. I don't want to use a shitty LLM that often gives incorrect and misleading information. Every time there is an AI response on some search engine I have to double check the source to verify the correctness. Every time I tried to use one of these AI coding tools it sucked and I just ended up rewriting it myself. Once when I tried using ChatGPT to write a cover letter it was so shitty I basically had to rewrite the entire thing. Nobody needs or wants an AI powered toaster, or lightbulbs. I just want me things to work, AI makes everything worse.
I remember there was that one lawyer who tried to use GPT to write his legal docs, it totally f*cked it up and he didn't check, ended up getting a huge fine from the court or something. In the end this is why I think LLMs will fail because the error rate is so high you have to check everything yourself anyway, it's not really saving anyone any labor, and the "profits" from generating blackwashed photos and videos alone won't be enough to sustain the electricity, hardware, and salary costs in developing these LLMs. Tbh I consider anyone who shills for AI and complains that AI is coming to take all our jobs to be extremely low IQ.
Counterpoint. Every time an exec say AI the stock goes up 1%
I don't care about the stock. I just want my things to work.
Pretty sure they were making a joke
I disagree. AI is the future, and it’s here to stay. Just because something is in its infancy doesn’t mean it won’t burn out and get better. While I agree that there should be greater decision as to how users should be able to opt out of AI collection, it won’t be coming in America anytime soon given how distracted our government is. We are so far from a general purpose AI. Name one economically productive task that you didn't have to do yourself because you used some LLM instead.
I’ll raise you one better: https://techcrunch.com/2024/03/14/ai-powered-ad-ignites-creator-controversy-on-instagram/ And that’s just the beginning. Many industries, especially in marketing such as managing ads, optimizing SEO and copywriting are all going away soon. You’re severely underestimating the power of AI.
I'm gonna have to switch to Linux as my daily driver to get away from all of this AI horse shit
Some people pronounce Linux as Lai-nux. Always been an AI system.
Really hoping qualcomm and other companies can get a good ARM64 chipsets because I'm kinda forced to use a Mac for the M chips right now
Speak for yourself, the new AI toilet I just bought automatically takes stool samples as it passes through and uploads the results to my AI healthcare provider that can diagnose any issues and automatically order medicine for me… Now that I think about it no matter what I do, every time I go number 2 it orders the most expensive medicine my insurance will cover… probably coincidence though, AI is the future brah ur just dum
"You have been diagnosed with HIV, your current monthly account balance is $10k. Toilet Inc has shared your HIV positive status with all your contacts to prevent transmission to comply with the AI Safety Act."
Now please insert your arm in the hole for your identification tattoo
Love how all of the non-tech people love AI, and how tech people who’ve worked with it dread it. It definitely says something.
I had this acquaintance who kept saying AI was going to take all the coding jobs, dude who gave up trying to learn python after hello world because it was too hard for him. Wouldn't accept I knew more about this subject than him, just jumped on the bandwagon because it's all over the news.
These are the same folks creating "startups" that are just prompt engineering wrappers over a LLM with a UI
I am not, AI all the things
This is a great read
Its a tool and theres a learning curve. And this is similar to people getting sick of websites in 2000s. We should get used to this tool
Nice try, not gonna pump the stock so you get a bonus.
Yeah you can have your opinion but i see the value of the tool.
Some companies have ads for AI products that are just if statements basically. Shit products
