May I know what is the difference between Hindu vegetarian meal vs vegetarian Jain meal?
No difference, it's all BS. Feel lucky if you get either of them.
Shows your ignorance. Jains donāt eat any root vegetables(potato onion). Hindu vegetarians do.
Jain won't have onions, garlic and is entirely vegan in most cases.

The description is literally on Qatarās website. Under religious meals. https://www.qatarairways.com/en-us/services-special/special-meals.html
Thanks. I have never tasted Jain food. Itās time to explore Jain food near by.
Itās not good lol. Itās much worse than vegan. Itās vegan plus basically no root vegetables. That means no potatoes, no onions, no garlic, etc. I mean those 3 things alone are staples in Indian cuisine.
Also OP, Jain meals are delicious. Thousands of Indians eat Jain meals everyday. Lots of dishes can be made without onion, garlic, potatoes, carrots etc. I can't comment on how the food will be on Qatar but unless you have a religious/dietary restriction, I would not recommend trying it out on an airline. Try it in good restaurants.
Thank you. I will try
1000's eat Jain meals....but arent there like a billion Indian people. That seems like a pretty small minority to make your point š
I was once travelling on one of those airlines and Hindu Vegetarian meal contained EGG, and the family argued with the crew for an hour. So choose wisely, especially when food service is limited on the flight during the pandemic.
Some Hindu priests have fish too, so like the religion ymmv
Agree! One has to just check the airlines definition of food to check what suits them best.
I was served eggs as part of Veg Hindu meal. Jain meal shouldn't have egg, onion, or garlic.
Bunch of BS both
In my experience, Jain meal is much better and healthier than the regular veg meal. I usually prefer that if available.
Jain is a religion in India and Jain meal is a hindu vegetarian meal but does not contain potatoes, onion and garlic.
Thank you.
