I'm a new grad at a small startup. Two weeks ago, my manager gave me the 30-day ultimatum to improve or leave. I am dying trying to grind every day where he dumps a ton of work on me and expects it done his way. The stress is killing me, and I'm secretly applying for new jobs because I don't know how much I can handle this. It's been like this after about a month I joined the company, and this is my 5th month. Last week, I tore a ligament playing soccer over the weekend, and during a one-on-one, he annoyingly hinted that I'm "prone to injury" and need to step up my game. Seriously? And if that wasn't enough, he's always creeping on my LinkedIn profile, checking it every few days. Is he paranoid Iβm leaving after all the hell he put me through or just plain weird? Anyone else dealing with a manager who makes your life a living hell? How do you cope? I need all the advice I can get. ps. Neither of us are Indian if that matters.
What does your manager mean by improve? Is this actually a genuine attempt for you to improve or do they just want you to leave? Iβd look for something else ASAP. Iβd also take vacation days ASAP.
What I interpreted the "Improve" as is "please me and do as I say" which is always a guessing game because he never gives clear direction or feedback. I can't even take PTO because I am afraid I would get fired before I have something lined up.
That sucks dude. I think you need to leave ASAP. Start grinding over the weekend!!
