Hello Community Members I have recently received a Product Manager offer from booking.com netherlands and have to relocate from India But all the news of upcoming recession/layoffs is sowing seeds of doubt in my mind(i.e. leave a profitable unicorn in India to Booking.com with wife also resigning job and relocating in this climate) How does folks inside Booking.com view the upcoming recession . How's the company grapevine and is there any risk of layoffs in Booking.com along or is it business as usual for next year with budget approved etc. TC 115 K offered at Booking.com India 55 LPA #tech #amsterdam #booking #booking.com
Definitely a lowball, given the fact that wife is also resigning it doesn’t make sense to go for TC below 150K
There is a 30% tax ruling for 5 years, so savings wise offer is pretty much same and once partner lands a gig there , we will save more than what we can in India...so leaning towards going due to the exposure, travel, qol etc.
I think the ask here is more about the stability in this uncertainty of upcoming recession!! Any views on same for any similar company?
Yes. Looking for feedback from folks at booking.com . Is Booking.com affected. Are there layoffs / any news on layoffs..or is it business as usual
DM me.
I work at Booking and here’s my view on it: 1. They’ve had a great Q3 this year 2. In the Netherlands you get 2 months probation period and after that it’s super hard for anyone to fire you at Booking 3. The worse case for booking happened during Covid when nobody travelled and bookings were down 90%. They fired a lot of the customer support agents but not people from engineering so I think compared to Covid this recession is not as bad as Covid was for booking
I 2nd to the NotBey. On top of that the company has plan to hire a lot in engineering role for next year. I don’t foresee layoff in booking.
Booking.com business hasn’t seen any signs of recession so far. Last quarter was the best ever, and there’s no sign of any hiring freeze or layoffs. Offered TC seems normal for PM role at B.com, though not sure what the exact brackets are there.
Recession wave is not there but the reason to let off the non productive org's across industry to cover up covid losses and start fresh for FY 23
Do you mean we aren't seeing any impending recession?
Hi op. what's your total years of experience and tech stack?
Looks like a downgrade, even if its fixed. Need breakdown.
