Absolutely brutal job market (end is near?)
"Only ask questions if you already tried ChatGPT." The AI-generated image is funny but very true. Leaders should be available to listen and answer questions, but they are also responsible for guiding team members to find solutions on their own. These days, there are many resources available: company document system (Notion, Google Docs, Jira), Google Search, Slack, and, of course, ChatGPT. Everyone should make an effort to find answers before asking others.
This just throws away the teachings from school "no stupid questions". What is wrong with asking questions? Aren't leaders supposed to answer questions?
I fully agree with the idea that "no question is stupid," and we all should maintain our curiosity. The key is to make an effort to find answers on our own before asking others, not to avoid asking questions altogether. It's similar to asking/consulting Google or ChatGPT first. As software engineers, we wouldn't want a co-worker who debugs their own bug by asking dozens of questions without first attempting to investigate the issue by themselves.
