Can anyone from Expedia share their corporate policy on remote work during Covid? Are you allowed to work from another country for a short period of time (~1-2 months) if you have work authorization in that country? Also post-Covid, are they planning a hybrid model for getting people back in the office? Thanks!
Whatever seems reasonable to you…assume they’ll spit in your face
You get 2-3 weeks max.
Thanks! Appreciate the info!
2 weeks in another country max subject to your manager’s ok. Hybrid work is planned to be 50% of the time in office on a monthly basis - but that could change
Thanks so much for the info! May I ask another question here (to avoid starting another thread)? Does the company promote a travel friendly culture? I know they have some cool benefits related to travel/wellness, but is it actually a place where people like to travel (pre-pandemic) and it’s encouraged? Asking because I’d love to join a company where people love to travel and it’s not frowned upon to use your vacation days (as opposed to my current place where no one really cares and it’s definitely not promoted).
The company does not promote travel how you are meaning. It’s not some hip company that wants its employees to thrive and do right by them. It’s pretty stale and corporate. If they changed hybrid, it would only be more restrictive. Upper leadership thinks now is the time to flex on their employees, and 50% hybrid was their big compromise.
It totally depends on your manager and your team. I have know ppl who have worked more than 6 month from out of country and expedia policy allows ppl to work from different country expedia office for up to 2 weeks. It totally depends on how cool your manager is and how its seen by your team. Say if you travel to Japan you can ask your manager permission to work from Japan office for sometime. you can explain to your manager saying i like to take advantage of Work from another office.
Yes, hybrid model when we are eventually back to office....not sure about the specifics on remote.....it might have to be in a location where an office exists....
Thx!
