Joe Biden has to drop out
I wanted to find a nice visual for 'overkill' as a concept. So I looked it up on image search. Results were all about some band. I added a -band and tried again. Most results were still about the band. I added -song and -lyrics. Now it was filled with results related to a movie, video game, a line of sunglasses, a line of sneakers and more products that have nothing to do with my intent, but with top priority for being brands with that name. Not a single non-branded result. Are we just gonna keep down this path where web search will eventually become a product catalog? I haven't even seen sites like Wikipedia as top 10 results in forever, for the kinds of queries you'd expect it to pop up
Yes. I guess That's how Google profit has incresed sharply
There's gotta be a way to disincentivize executives from pulling the rug from under their users and make out like bandits the moment growth stagnates, even though business is perfectly stable otherwise
Not saying google is excellent at delivering what the user wants, but your wanted query does sound like it’s at the very tail end of the distribution.. delivering a good result for those kinds of queries probably require a good personalization + zero-to-one-shot learning…
But why would I use search if what I wanted was gonna be not in the tail end of distribution? I certainly don't want a health line aggregator of turmeric benefits showing up when I'm looking for the scientific name and a neuroscience keyword lmao
I guess users who have to look up head queries are more likely to be influenced by ads. You don't see the nerds looking up Nature articles buying paleo testosterone boosting neurotrophic supplements that pay for the bonuse... I mean stock value now, do you?
How dare Google not have a real image of an abstract concept
Yeah an abstract concept with absolutely no related art whatsoever. Not even a single hobbyist on Pinterest drawing a bunch of explosions and tagging it #overkill
Surprisingly bing doesn't have that hyper-shopifying every search result that Google has. I respect it. Google was amazing at finding the vaguest diagram from a sci journal from just three keywords even in 2010, it seems like these philistines don't understand intellect lol
