Absolutely brutal job market (end is near?)
winery name: Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars -tasting experience: 8/10, walking from the parking lot, u are greeted by a whimsical ‘Greeter’ statue, then immediately upon entering their main tasting room, which proudly touts their 1976 Judgment of Paris achievement. Main room is fairly modest & their bar area has magnificent views of the Vaca/Atlas Peak mountains. they recently expanded another private outdoor patio on the far left side of the bar, and had a private members tasting room. (closed during Covid). their main tasting room also includes 2 private rooms for special cask 23 tasting events. due to their popularity, main tasting room has become a bit loud/hectic during peak times. think bachelorette/bachelor party buses between 2-4pm on Saturdays. my thinking is that they raised their tasting fees from $50 to $95 to hopefully, partially offset these crowds… -tasting $: $95 for signature tasting (Fay/SLV/Cask23), $125 for their tasting+cave tour, which comes complimentary with membership -reservations: Yes, plan at least 2 weeks in advance via their website. -membership: 6/10, includes 4 tiers called ‘Luxe’. lowest tier has minimum commitment of $2k per year but only 10% discount. Luxe 12 is likely the best value which includes 20% discount off on a $3k annual spend. complimentary tastings for up to 4 visitors. highest tier is aimed for serious collectors who plan to spend +$6k per yr but comes w/ a 25% discount. membership used to be simpler with 3 tiers and more generous discounts for the lower tier. -revisit: Yes, Cask 23, SLV & Fay wines are worthy of multiple visits or at the very least a membership.
yea hehe this is a story involving lawyers and how they made it out $$$ while causing confusion for everyone else. ill write a post wrt this later :)
