I have 10+yoe on tech consulting ( sap implementations as functional architect) + Computer science engineering background/mba. In my role, I sit with business to understand the needs of customers/business and translate it into functional specs which will be then programmed by developers. Does this tech consulting experience translate to Product manager role at tech firms. If so, which tech companies are open to hire consultants as #productmanager ?
I’ve seen Googlers with that background. Frankly, they annoy me. Consultants value different things than folks who live with Eng decisions. So, use that experience to get the gig, but after you do, please listen to engineers and leaders about longer term impacts of your plans.
Thanks for your inputs. Could you share your insights on where consultants lag on helping make engg decisions?
Thanks! Will dm you
Listen to this guy ☝️
Thanks. I explored Amazon careerplace and found different roles such as PM, Sr PM, Principal PM etc. Currently I am a Manager at Accenture. Could you suggest which of these roles would be a good fit?
