It seems intentional to me, every time I see a funny or cute reel, the top comments are always incredibly bitter contentious comments. It’s completely different from tiktok or YouTube comments that bubble to the top. It seems intentional to me, rage baiting people to farm more engagement. Anyone else feel the same? Any meta employees want to comment on whether it’s intentional?
Instagram shorts has the best feed for me — way better than YouTube or tiktok. Just fun wholesome content
I agree my reels are great wholesome content, but comments always so fucking toxic. Ruins my mood sometimes after seeing a super cute video
You know what. I realised the exact same thing these days. Comments on Instagram are ultra trash. Indian posts will have a ton of “pay to see me naked” comments. I recently installed TikTok. And it’s actually a breath of fresh air. Top comments are usually very appreciative unless video itself was cringe
I have to agree. TikTok comments seem likely they are actually written by people with empathy and basic understanding of the video content. Instagram reel comments seem sketchy like I’m skeptical if those are real people or bots or paid content farms filled with low paid workers. Idk feels off.
I don’t think they’re bots(besides the scam comments amazons talking about). I feel like Instagram is intentionally boosting the contentious comments to the top so more people reply. Facebook has done this before, they boost negative shit to the newsfeed because it’s so much easier to juice engagement numbers that way. It’s an unethical practice but I don’t doubt it would increase engagement, sucks.

Not related to the post but I always felt that Instagram is noting but creates jealously and envy. Recommend you to watch “the social dilemma” if you haven’t watched
