Netflix used to only hiring senior engineers and had a high bar for getting an offer. Recently though, they started to have positions for interns and new grads. I'm curious why Netflix decided to change their stance, any Netflix employees can chime in on the possible reasons? tc: 235k #netflix
All the college talent that went to Amazon came out as a toxic mess, they had to save the children by grooming them to be Netflix tier SSEs themselves
Demand and supply
They're hiring for a Netflix original that's a rip off of The Internship (2013)
Is this real? I’m surprised
Super competitive job market
Netflix have stopped innovating and only need maintenance work going forward. No need to hire senior developers for that.
I have seen the same trend starting at Roku. New grads are cheaper and work hard so if you can afford to train them should do it. Roku was very lean before with new hires expected to learn independently, now the company has grown enough that some people might have the time to train. Now with growing tech popularity it's also easier to find good new grads.
People don’t realize that it’s basically a small experiment for the company. There are literally like 25 of those roles in a company of thousands. It’s a tiny pilot program.
Not enough seniors
