Hey all, I'm currently working at Booking.com as senior software developer I, and I got poked by Miro's recruiter to join them as Senior Engineer. I have a couple of questions: - What salary rangr should I expect? (Currently my base is 120K + 20% annual bonus + 40K stocks) - How is the work culture at Miro? At Booking, the work life balance is quite good and I like that. - Given the current market conditions around layoffs at big tech, how safe this role is? How is a whiteboard company making so much money? Do people even use it? We have it as part of corporate offering at Booking but I never saw a single team using it. Thanks!
we use Miro, decent tool for many purposes :)
I don’t recommend. Too much political and weak leadership. I’m leaving Miro because of that and I’m pretty sure they will have another layoff soon. And btw I will loose all the offered stock options since they are not public and, Andrey’s words (CEO), they have no intention to go public in the next couple of years. They sell to people as a good package but you won’t see it and work as hell.
Be careful, miro has recently done layoff ⛳
I would say Booking is a safer bet if you want to avoid layoffs. SaaS in general is a target for cost cutting in the current economic climate. Regarding work culture, as other people have raised, leadership is a bit weak. Therefore the "culture" itself depends on the team you will be joining. But in general, work life balance is good.
Why do you think leadership is weak, asking just because of curiosity.
What's your YOE? @OP

- Compensation: You can get the same base or a bit higher, no bonus, RSUs comparison is tricky since Miro is not public, but you will get some amount that vests over 4 years, the money value to this is hard to figure out. - The work culture is similar to booking if not better. - Nobody could answer the question about safety, I think. No one knows what's going to happen tomorrow. - Apparently, people do use it, otherwise we wouldn't have made such money, right?
