Just took a look at my Microsoft 401k account, here is the total return breakdown for the past 10 years: - Brokerage (self investment): +115% - Target Fund (2040, 2050): +105% - Bond: +15% (8.5% 10 years ago) - Short Term: +17% (9.3% 10 years ago) - Stock International: +48% - Stock Small Cap(Russel 2000): +111% - SP500 Index: +232% - Fidelity Growth Company Commingled Pool Class S: +472%. (14.5% 10 years ago) Total return: +147% So 46% of the growth over the past 10 years is the growth fund which was only 14.5% of the initial. Never checked the details of the investment choices - I’m still shocked by the large gain from the growth fund.
Looks like overall you have underperformed sp500 hugely
Yes, dragged by bond, short-term and extra.
What are the stocks/etfs you own in these?
The fund provided by retirement plan.
Any idea what the Fidelity Growth Company Commingled Pool Class S returns look like after the fees were taken out? As I recall, the expense ratio for this fund is quite high.
For my account, I saw it is +472% for the past 10 years. Not sure how fee is charged but that’s the start and current value comparison.
Why not VT and chill?
Knew nothing about stock then

Left Microsoft more than 10 years ago so there was no extra contribution for the past 10 years.
My spouse's numbers, who left Msft in 2011, are similar. He also holds Msft shares within, and outside of, the 401K that were purchased at $20-$28. Obviously, ecstatic about those shares.
