I am still holding my company stocks and not part of below balance from my investment account in fidelity - they are just $300k now which was $550k earlier and so have to hold it long term before I liquidate. Home was just bought and has equity of only the same as my downpayment and a bit more. I need a sustainable 10% return. I have burnt my fingers in tech as can be seen by the covid drop. Wasted too much money for my home as can be see during the saving period. HELP!!! . I need a sustainable 10% per year return investment here. I was foolish enough to move all my money from fsenx to qqq and spy during the uproar of tech stocks during covid. And as usual fsenx grew 3 times more than what it was in 2020. With all the brain power here give a half decent investment idea that doesn’t need daily management and not keep worrying about the balances dropping badly. #personalfinance #investments
S&P 500 index fund 10% should be about right. You will have to accept the volatility that comes with it. Are you trying to live off this money? You could put yourself in a much better position if you would work a few years to build some more stability. No investment will give you a 10% safe withdrawal rate
I do want to live off this and I can. My current NW is around 2.7m ( and I am old - 43). with a very optimistic estimate of my home value, value of other real estate investments and stocks that are vested to me. I will not liquidate unless I can find a 10% rate of return in investment. Real estate is now so fluid and I am done paying management company large charges from my rent collections. Stocks with company are down and I need to hold it until it stabilizes. So I thought spreading investments helps but the amount of headache and heartache it gives is so bad.
If you find a passive investment that can pay out 10% consistently with no risk/volatility, you don’t need to worry about money ever again because every fund on Wall Street will offer you billions of dollars to share your secret.
