Does anyone know how to transfer Amazon stock to an Individual Investment Account? The stocks are currently in Morgan Stanley at Work StockPlan Connect. I am considering transferring them to my IIA Fidelity Brokerage account. I would like to transfer without selling them to avoid possible tax implications. TC 140K
To be clear, once they are vested they are no longer RSUs. But if you’re just talking about an in-kind transfer between two brokerage accounts, you should be able to perform that by filling out a form/request with the destination account company (i.e. it gets “pulled” from the current account). May be a mailed form but they likely have some online request capability that’s easier, especially if ownership stays the same.
Perfect thanks for the help! I didn’t know the form name but I’ll look for it and get it done
Trying to do the same, did this work for you op without selling shares?
The short answer is no, you cannot. Unvested RSUs are not stock in your account yet so you can't do anything with them. IRAs, you can only contribute cash. You would have to sell the stock once vested and use the proceeds to invest in the IRA.
@chippy2000 these are already vested. I’ll edit the post to mention that. I transferred an IRA and IIA to a different brokerage without having to liquidate them, just never did it for anything like RSUs
