Seems rather desperate to me. I mean OpenAI charge a monthly sub for GPT4 but it seems like the absolute worst way to monetize AI is charging a monthly sub for it, you're automatically adding a huge barrier to entry. I mean folks like us might pay it, but your average joe with a blue collar job isn't going to give a shit. if it's just a niche product (which even chat gpt pro is) it's not exactly going to make a significant contribution to your bottom line. There really needs to be a better way of making it free and injecting advertisements, maybe keep a paid version only for power users. They need to figure it out because inference costs are an order of magnitude greater than something like search, so automatically it's harder to make as profitible.
After paying for a couple months of GPT4, I wouldn’t pay for any AI right now, including GPT4.
The market is not in US, it’s for enterprise. For example arming up millions of boot campers or Indian developers in LCOL countries, and certainly you can replace every L4s
Prices should include a generous free tier.
